I am a fan of both Buddy Holly and Omega but don't think the association rates this kind of $. Without the name attached this watch is worth probably a couple of thousand dollars. Then again if you have the bucks and want something no one else has perhaps it is worth it to you.

At first 70k estimated at $60-80. In 2000, the first auction watch didn't sell. Elena Holly. Try to sell maria again in 2006 saw 155,350 dollars.

I am a huge fan of Omega watches and recently studied Buddy Holly after viewing his memorial on the 50th Anniversary. After stumbling across the coroner's work and death certificates of all three musicians, I have found that there is no evidence stating that he was wearing the Omega watch at the time of the crash. The info goes so far to detail every scratch, wound, coloring, and belongings but no watch. I've enjoyed telling people he was wearing an Omega watch at the time but will no longer say that. Another way for Maria Elena Holly to make more money.

Your readership will be better served if you forego the musical commentary. I hope the comments above will give you some perspective on Buddy's Holly's unique contribution to, and impact upon, rock music.

I suggest you stick to watches--your taste there is excellent.

Off-Topic reply about Buddy Holly... Say what you will about Buddy Holly, I have one "Greatest Hits" or somesuch CD of his work, which is probably all anyone needs. And while I like his work, I'm not a rabid fan... However, he probably influenced more musicians in the three years he was known and active than virtually all other Rock and Rollers have been able to influence in decades of trying. Don't forget he was gone and buried by 1959... The Musical world would look and be a lot different if he had stuck with the Violin.

I mean I love Chuck Berry and Ray Charles, and Big Joe Turner better, but those guys had decades to influence music. Ole Buddy had about 30 months.

Enjoy visiting your blog!
